Editing FAQs

I price per project, taking certain factors into consideration like your word count, editing deadline, and complexity of edits. My base pricing is calculated per 1,000 words.

I understand! Ask me about payment plans and my flexible editing packages so we can find something that meets your needs and honors your budget.

My standard timeline is one week (M-F) per 20,000 words, and I always add an extra week buffer in case of unforeseen circumstances.

If you need your manuscript sooner than my standard editing timeline, I can provide you with a special price quote to reflect the accelerated editing timeline.

I run a complex publishing and production schedule to accommodate multiple clients at a time. However, rest assured that your manuscript will get the treatment and attention it deserves, as my editing timelines are designed to give you the best edit possible.

I offer a few different payment plan options to accommodate all of my clients. The deposit amount will vary per project, but it always goes toward your total editing fee.

My contracts are designed to protect both my interests and yours. All of my contracts outline my responsibilities as your editor and yours as the author. I also include a privacy clause to protect your privacy as a client.

My contracts are set based on the editing package you choose. However, I’m open to adding additional services if the need arises. Please be aware the project timeline and fee may change if you add on additional services.

I recommend contacting me as soon as possible so you can get your preferred editing slot. I’m typically booked out several months in advance, so the sooner you contact me, the more likely you are to get the timeline you want or need.

Every manuscript has unique needs. That’s why we talk about your project and I help you figure out what editing work it needs. I’m trained in both story-level and language editing, so I leave no stone unturned!

We agree on a word count limit each month as well as a schedule. This costs a set fee and is to reserve time for that amount of words in my calendar. You have guaranteed access to my editing services each month. I also allow a small number of unused words to roll over to your next month.

Hiring an editor on retainer might be a great fit for you if you plan to publish serialized fiction through websites like Kindle Vella or Radish. An editor on retainer is also helpful if you have monthly content you publish that you’d like reviewed, such as blog posts for your followers, emails for your subscribers, etc.

Book Coaching FAQs

Book coaches can fill several roles. Editor, mentor, and cheerleader all come to mind. While all of my coaching packages are tailored to individual clients and projects, book coaching usually includes some combination of editorial feedback, conversations on Zoom or the phone, email exchanges, and even some ‘homework’ from me to help you achieve your writing goals.

Each coaching program is totally custom to the client. I price per project, taking certain factors into consideration like where you’re at in your writing journey, what you need help with, how much time the project will take, and your desired investment. I use a base hourly rate and your unique situation to help me calculate the fee.

Coaching looks different for every author because everyone has unique needs for their project. On average, coaching lasts between six and twelve weeks.

I am not a publisher, so I can’t publish your book for you. If you need further guidance on querying agents or self-publishing, I’d be happy to recommend a few resources to get you started.

I do! If you choose to one of my mentorship packages instead of a by-the-hour option, you’ll receive a 10% discount.
